The top cherry producers of our chart above produced a total of 1 574 064 tons of cherries in 2001.

    

The same cherry producers reached a total of 1 896 618 MT of cherries in 2010 ( + 20 per cent).

 

From 2000  to  2010,  the European Union's cherry production decreased by about 10 per cent passing from 798 120 tons to 719 000 tons, but the 2011 EU cherry production reached  836 000 tons.

 

In 2012, the European Union countries produced only 640 000 MT of sweet cherries ( down by 24 per cent compared to the previous season ).

 

The European Union's sweet cherry production reached only 433 000 MT in 2013 ( down by 33 per cent compared to the previous season).

 

The EU countries imported 86 124 MT of cherries in 2000. In 2010 the European Union's cherry imports reached 120 522 MT ( up by 40  per cent).

 

In 2011 the EU countries imported a total of 122 662 MT of cherries. During the same year (2011), the European Union exported 113 736 MT of cherries. 

 

The European Union countries' sweet cherry imports fell to 119 824 MT in 2012 and to 117 118 MT in 2013.

 A word from the President

 

The cherry production, import and export statistics data indicated in this page concern the production of the major grower countries. All cherry production, export and import data is official and delivered by the French Ministry of Agriculture and the Statistical Division (FAOSTAT) of the Food and Agriculture Division of The United Nations (FAO).

 

Turkey is the world's largest cherry producer followed by U.S.A. Iran, Italy, Spain, Russian Federation, Romania, Ukraine and France.  U.S.A. is the world's largest cherry exporter followed by Turkey, Chile, Austria, Spain, Syria, Italy, Poland, France and Greece.
